I received the Boscia Charcoal Pore Pudding Mask in a PLAY! by Sephora box a few months ago and just tried it for the first time tonight. It has two kind of charcoal and kaolin clay aaannnddd… it’s a just charcoal mask, I would never spend 40.00 to buy the full size.

It had a menthol-y feel so I wanted to find out what was giving it the tingle. I didn’t figure it out exactly, but I did fall down a pretty cool ingredient rabbit hole!

The mask has Epilobium Angustifolium (Fireweed in North America) and this plant is an anti-inflammatory and was used by the Native Americans to draw pus out of wounds! It can be made into tea and is described as having a spice flavor (that night account for the tingle?).

I’ve almost finished my Leahlani Skincare Aloha Ambrosia Morning Moisture Elixir and I’m so torn – on one hand it’s an amazing SOS ingredient for dry skin (it makes the biggest difference in healing the dermatitis around my eyes) but, on the other hand, it looks greasy, it feels greasy, it never fully absorbs into my skin, and it has a heavy floral scent.

Simple Beauty – Rose Hip Seed Oil

I love beauty products of all kinds and sometimes I enjoy a good, simple product. This post is part of a series sharing my favorite one ingredient beauty products. If your are into simple beauty routines, some of the products in this series might fit really well into your collection!

I love beauty products of all kinds and sometimes I enjoy a good, simple product. This post is part of a series sharing my favorite one ingredient beauty products. If your are into simple beauty routines, some of the products in this series might fit really well into your collection!

Rose hip seed oil is pressed from the seeds of rose bushes and is a powerhouse of ingredients for your skin.  It is most popular for being a natural source of Vitamin A – a more gentle form of retinol.  The oil also  has essential fatty acids that can assist in tissue regeneration that may reduce fine lines, wrinkles, scars, and stretch marks. It is high in linoleic acid – an essential fatty acid that may reduce acne. It also contains Vitamin C, another anti-aging ingredient that stimulates the production of collagen and reduces the signs of aging.

I have bought rose hip seed oil on Amazon (as with all oils, I prefer Organic and cold pressed), but I like to get it from The Ordinary now that they carry it. I use the oil almost every evening on my face – I will either mix it in with Stratia Liquid Gold or I will mix it with my serum. Not only does it provide a little boost of benefits with the vitamins and fatty acids, it also provides a little extra moisture for my dehydrated skin. It is pretty lightweight and I think that normal/combo/oil skins would not find it to be too heavy if it was used on its own or under moisturizer.  Have you used rose hip seed oil? Let me know what you thought of it! Oils are my favorite one ingredient beauty products and I have a few more lined up to talked about in this series!

CosRX – Low pH Good Morning Cleanser – Review

In a Few Words
A basic gel cleanser appropriate for most skin types.

Cosrx Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser suitable for all skin types – including dry and sensitive. The cleanser has a pH of 5 so it doesn’t disrupt the skin’s acid mantle and doesn’t over dry or strip you skin of its natural oils. It is formulated with tea tree oil and a form of BHA (Betaine Salicylate) to help control breakouts, minimize the appearance of pores, and exfoliate.

The Takeaway

I bought my Low pH Good Morning Cleanser on Amazon, I used entire bottle, and it lasted me about 3 months. I used this cleanser as a second cleanse in the evening or as a first cleanse in the morning. Most retailers say that it can be used to remove makeup, but I would’t recommend that. I like to use oil cleansers to remove makeup, but I did try the Low pH Good Morning Cleanser a few times and found that it didn’t really breakup a full face of makeup and it burned my eyes.

I have dehydrated, acne prone skin and, even though the pH is right with the product, it did leave my skin feeling a little dry and tight. I tended to save this for days my skin was calm because it could be a little too much for my face – I usually prefer a creamy cleanser (like the Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser) for a second cleanse. I did mostly like Low pH Good Morning Cleanser because helped me maintain a clear face and a smaller appearance of my pores, but I didn’t really enjoy using it.

I love the ingredients, pH, and price of this product. I think this is a budget friendly, basic cleanser for anyone with normal to oily skin – dry and dehydrated faces might want to stay away from this.

This would be a great cleanser for most people with normal to oily skin.

Notable ingredients it DOES have:

Saccharomyces Ferment – moisturizing agent

Sodium Lauroyl Sulfate
Phthalates
