L’Oreal – Pro Matte Liquid Lipstick – Review

Two weeks ago I picked up of the L’Oreal Pro Matte Liquid Lipstick – Cowboy and Matador – and have been really putting them to the test!

Two weeks ago I picked up of the L’Oreal Pro Matte Liquid Lipstick – Cowboy and Matador – and have been really putting them to the test! While I love the colors, I am really disappoint by the formula. I tried them out about half a dozen different ways because they seemed to be getting really good reviews around the interwebs so I was determined to make them work but I really could not.

I really do like the shades in the line – I wish these liquid lipsticks had worked out for me because I could list off another 3 – 4 shades that I would like to have! These liquid lipsticks are also very comfortable to wear – they dry down completely but do not feel drying at all.

With that being said – the wear on these is garbage. These liquid lipsticks take 15+ minutes to dry down completely and if you can not speak, drink, eat for until they are completely dry then you are golden. BUT, if you so much as close your mouth completely then they wear time is awful. I have tried these both with and with and without balm, with and without exfoliating, and with different applications. I found that the best wear was without any balm and with a very thin layer (which I think is standard) and the wear time was … an hour? or two? other combinations began flaking off within like 15 minutes.

I honestly don’t know how people were able to make these work for them, if you have tried the L’Oreal Pro Matte Liquid Lipsticks and have had a great experience with them, please let me know! I would love to make these work because I am in love the the shades of this range.

e.l.f Cosmetics – Hydrating Face Primer – Review

The e.l.f Cosmetics Hydrating Face Primer is a silicone based primer that seals hydration in the skin and increases the wear time of foundations.

In a Few Words
A silicone based primer that seals hydration in the skin and increases the wear time of foundations.

“The e.l.f. Cosmetics Hydrating Face Primer boosts your complexion with a drench of hydration, creating a perfect canvas for radiant, younger looking skin. Infused with grape and Vitamins A, C, & E for nourishing and anti-aging benefits. This multipurpose clear skin primer reduces the appearance of fine lines and transforms your face into a flawless and smooth canvas so makeup goes on evenly for a long-lasting finish.” The primer comes on a 1 oz plastic bottle with a pump and sells for $6.00.

Initially, hated this primer because of its silicone texture. But, I wore it with my Maybelline Dream Cushion Foundation and it made such a difference in the wear that I think I will keep it around!
Firstly, looking at the ingredients, this primer doesn’t offer anything other than a silicone base – there is grape seed oil in it but I don’t find it to actually be hydrating. e.l.f uses Vitamins A, E, and C as a selling point for the primer, but they are at the very bottom of the ingredients list AFTER the preservatives soooooo… At $6.00, I don’t really expect this primer to be an awesome skincare product too, but that is how it is marketed and I don’t think you should buy this primer thinking that it will be. After first trying this primer, I wanted to just pass it along because it does have a silicone texture that smooths out the skin and I normally hate putting things like that on my face – I just don’t like the feel of very occlusive products. Since it didn’t break me out, I decided to give it a few more tries and I ended up really enjoyed it with my Maybelline Cushion foundation. This primer didn’t really extend the wear a ton, but what it did do was help the way the foundation wore off. A lot of times, thinner foundations like this will wear away pretty patchy on me – my skin will soak up all the water out of the foundation and just leave speckles of pigment on my face – and with this foundation, the e.l.f Hydrating Face Primer provided a nice barrier on top of my skin that helped the foundation wear away more evenly.

The e.l.f Hydrating Face Primer is a decent, basic primer and would be a choice if you are on a budget.
