Simple | Water Boost Micellar Gel Wash | Review

.

In A Few Words
A gentle cleanser suitable for normal and sensitive skin that contains no harsh chemicals, artificial colors or perfume.

The new Simple Water Boost Micellar Facial Gel Wash, a new generation face wash with Micellar cleansing bubbles, infused with skin-essential minerals and plant extract, this formula delivers instant hydration AND gentle yet effective cleansing – perfect for even sensitive skin. The cleansing gel comes in a 5oz plastic tube and I bought mine for $6.00 on Amazon.

I think this a great buy from the drugstore! It’s gentle on the skin (soap free and SLS free) and leaves the skin feeling clean, but tight stripped. This cleanser is not hydrating or moisturizing at all, so might want pass if you have dry skin. It’s unscented, simple, and very utilitarian cleanser so while it does the job, it’s not enjoyable to use (but for I wasn’t expecting it to be). The Micellar Gel does a good job removing face makeup but I wouldn’t use it for eye makeup and I normally just second cleanse or morning cleanse. While washing your face, it stays a very thick gel consistency so I use a cloth to wash it off because it is difficult to rinse off with water.

This cleanser is a great basic, budget buy for normal to oily skin types.

Review

I have been completely loving the Age Prevention Superfood Cleanser by @youthtothepeople. It is an SLS free cleanser that is suitable for a second cleanse or a morning cleanse – though it can remove a full face of makeup if you wanted to use it as a first cleanse. It lathers slightly and while it doesn’t feel hydrating, it leaves my skin feeling balanced and isn’t stripping at all.

The APS Cleanser is so enjoyable to use because its scent is *fantastic* like a luxury interpretation of basil+health food store. There are no fragrances in the cleanser (or basil for that matter, it’s probably the kale I’m smelling).

I love/hate the packaging. It is a glass bottle that shows off the beautiful green cleanser. It looks like something you can leave out on the counter top because the labeling is so simple and clean. Although the bottle is a very think glass, it’s still glass. So it’s not travel friendly and, frankly, it’s not Liz friendly because I have the coordination of a three year old and I really think it’s just a matter of time until I Hulk smash this onto my bathroom floor.

I really think this is a fantastic cleanser. You may want to pass on it if you are very dry or want a hydrating cleanser. Also, this cleanser is packed with essential oils so this cleanse isn’t for you if you have a sensitivity or don’t like to using products w essential oils.

belif – First Aid 360 Eye Care Mask | Review

belif first aid 360 eye care mask

In a Few Words

A moisturizing eye mask with a pudding-like texture that is appropriate to use around the entire eye area.

Belif’s First Aid 360 Eye Care Mask is a “hydrating pudding-like eye care mask releases stress around the eyes and replenishes moisture levels to dry eye rims… The leave-on, cooling and hydrating formula—infused with mimosa herb extract—instantly cools, relieves puffy and fatigued eyes, and prevents visible wrinkles by improving the resilience of the skin around the eye. Further enhanced with three belif napiers formulas (original, detox, and dark circle formulas),” – Napiers are tinctures and formulas formulated by an herbalist,Duncan Napiers, in the late 1800’s. –  are part of  “this eye care mask fights all signs of fatigue and diminishes the appearance of dark circles and puffiness around the delicate and sensitive eye areas.” The Belif First Aid 360 Eye Care Mask comes in a 25 ml plastic pot and retails for about $35.00.

The winter weather wreaks havoc on my skin and the sensitive skin around my eyes is the hardest hit. I tend to get patches of dermatitis on or by my eyelids and the corners of my eyes get extremely dry and chapped because my eyes tend to water constantly. I picked up this mask in desperation hoping I could find something to really soothe and moisturize my sad, angry eyes. Unfortunately, this mask doesn’t offer anything more than an average eye cream would (except that it’s ok to use on your lids, but I will use any eye cream on my lids if I need to). The mask is just fine as a moisturizer, but it doesn’t offer intense hydration or cooling or soothing. Also, the texture is so weird (legitimately like pudding) that it’s awkward to get out a small amount and warm it up between fingers, so I always feel like I’m using too much and wasting it. Even though I don’t like this cream by Belif, my savor this winter has been Belif’s Moisturizing and Firming Eye Cream!

The First Aid 360 Eye Mask is just fine as a budget friendly, basic eye cream, but if you’re looking for an SOS product, this will disappoint.

Notable ingredients it DOES have:
Mimosa Herb Extract: Prevents visible wrinkles by increasing skin resilience around the eyes in addition to relieving signs of fatigue by reducing irritation with tannins, amino acids, and other nutritive elements.

Napiers Detox Formula: Purifies the skin by removing impurities and delivering antioxidants for improved skin texture.
Napiers Dark Circle Formula: Alleviates dark circles under the eyes with its antioxidant and brightening effects.

Josh Rosebrook – Hydration Accelerator
One of my favorite hydrating fist mists (I was running low on my current bottle, so this was well timed!), it’s packed with aloe juice, nut oils, herbs, and essential oils. This face mist is “a great foundation for the rest of your skin care regime. This light spray of liquid nutrition prepares your skin by lowering the surface tension of your skin cells, lubricating and loosening so that nutrients can penetrate deeper and faster. It naturally fills cells with water to make them plump and firm, helping reduce the appearance of wrinkles for a smooth finish.”

Josh Rosebrook – Advanced Hydration Mask
I have been struggling with re-balancing my skin after a change to colder weather and central heat turning on and this mask did what my other SOS products couldn’t do! I used this mask morning and night two days in a row and it brought my tight, itchy dehydrated skin back to life! Damn, if this box didn’t read my mind! – Well, it is winter, so I’m sure everyone is dry…

I bought my Aloha Ambrosia on Leahlani’s website about a year ago and have used the entire bottle. I had a love/hate relationship with this product. I loved this moisturizer as an SOS product – it is so intensely hydrating and soothing on irritated skin. This elixir was the perfect rescue treatment if my skin was dry and irritated from too much retinol, changes in weather, or a sunburn. With that being said, even in those situations, I would never use this in the morning if I planned on leaving the house… which leads me to the hate. This moisturizer was so heavy and greasy. It never fully absorbs into the skin and even hours later your face is still an oil slick – and I am dehydrated so my skin usually drinks up everything! On top of being too oily, it has a heavy floral scent that never really dissipates – though, I might be extra sensitive to the smell because I hate florals. For those reasons, I never used this elixir in the morning and saved it for PM routines only. If this moisturizer did not have the heavy floral scent, I would repurchase this in an instant. Unfortunately, the smell is a deal-breaker for me. I could accept the greasiness because I knew that, no matter what state my skin was in, I could always turn to this moisturizer.

Aloha Ambrosia is extremely hydrating and healing, but it is also very heavily scented and never fully absorbs into the skin.
